Job summary

Topeka Public Schools is seeking an AVID Tutor to support the AVID Tutorial Process and assist AVID Elective teachers at Chase Middle School, Eisenhower Middle School, Robinson Middle School, Highland Park High School, and Topeka High School.

The tutor will facilitate AVID tutorials, work with teachers on implementation and scoring, and attend 16 hours of AVID Tutor Training. Spanish language skills are a plus; 2–15 hours per week, part-time position.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Current college student preferred.
• Must be reliable, punctual and professional.
• Commitment of 2–15 hours per week.
• Spanish speaking is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate AVID tutorial process.
• Collaborate with AVID Elective teachers on implementation and scoring of tutorial materials and notebooks.
• Attend 16 hours of AVID Tutor Training.
• Occasionally assist with field trips and support for students and families.

Position Purpose: To facilitate AVID Tutorial Process and assist AVID Elective teachers.

• Speaking and understanding Spanish is a plus

Responsibilities:

• AVID tutors' primary role is to facilitate the AVID tutorial process
• AVID tutors work closely with AVID Elective Teachers in implementation and scoring of tutorial materials and student notebooks
• AVID tutors are required to attend 16 hours of AVID Tutor Training
• AVID tutors are occasionally asked to provide support on field trips and assist with student and their families
