Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Tool & Die Maker in the United States, Texas, to plan, lay out, and fabricate tooling and dies used in metal and non-metal forming. You will set up and operate machine tools, read blueprints, and work to tight tolerances with various materials, including heat-treating when required.

The role requires five years of related experience, formal tool room training or apprenticeship, and the ability to pass a respirator exam.

Qualifications

• Five years of relevant work experience.
• Formal training in machine shop and tool room practices; apprenticeship or a certificate program is acceptable.
• Must provide own tools/toolbox; toolbox requirements provided before start date.
• Must pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lay out work according to models, blueprints, drawings, or specifications.
• Select and use materials, tools, and processes based on metal/ alloy properties.
• Make necessary shop computations.
• Set up and operate machine tools and related equipment.
• Work to close tolerances, heat-treat parts when required, and fit/assemble parts to tolerances.
• Perform additional duties as requested.
