Job summary

Pinnacle Solutions, an Akima company, is seeking a technical writer to prepare and edit manuals, procedures and specifications for aviation mechanics. You will acquire knowledge from engineering specs and illustrations to produce clear, actionable documents.

The role involves creating installation and maintenance instructions, release notes, and technical advisories, with supervision and progressive responsibility as you grow in the position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Avionics or electrical experience desirable.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

  • Ensures documentation meets government specs and quality standards.
  • Establishes style guidelines and compiles information from subject matter.
  • Creates or revises installation, operation and maintenance instructions and release notes.
  • Performs work under direct supervision and routes complex issues appropriately.

Job description

Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to aviation mechanics. Acquires subject knowledge by referring to technical specifications, blueprints, and engineering illustrations or models.

Responsibilities
  • Researches, writes, edits and proofreads technical data for use in documents or sections of documents such as manuals, procedures and specifications.
  • Ensures technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style.
  • Assists in establishing style guidelines and standards for texts and illustrations. Retrieves, organizes, analyzes and synthesizes subject matter and transforms it into easy-to-understand information.
  • Creates or revises hardware or software product documentation, which includes installation, operation and maintenance instructions and other technical publications such as technical advisories and release notes.
  • Performs work under direct supervision.
  • Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or two years directly related experience with HS diploma or GED.
  • Avionics or electrical experience desired.
  • Must be a US citizen.
