Job summary

SpaceX in Washington state is seeking a Lead Supply Chain Reliability Engineer for Starlink Aviation to oversee a team of hourly inspectors and supplier quality engineers, ensuring compliance with all quality and drawing requirements while driving improvements.

You will conduct supplier audits, manage containment and dispositions, analyze trends, lead corrective actions, and communicate data-driven recommendations to influence design for manufacturability and inspectability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• 3+ years in supplier quality engineering, quality assurance, or manufacturing engineering.
• 1+ year leading people or projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of hourly inspectors and supplier quality engineers.
• Drive suppliers to compliance with quality and drawing requirements; ensure clear, sensible requirements communicated.
• Oversee containment, part screening, dispositions for nonconforming product, and issuing SCARs to closure with evidence.
• Generate quality metrics and analyze historical trends to identify defect patterns.
• Lead supplier audits and targeted improvement projects at suppliers to reduce defects.
• Update procedures and develop new ones to streamline inspections and processes.
• Travel to supplier sites as needed to assess compliance and capabilities.
• Identify, categorize, and mitigate supply chain risks; drive risk-based decisions.
• Communicate quality trends and recommendations to engineers for design changes (DFM/DFI).
• Apply root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, fishbone, 8D) for systemic quality improvements.
