Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Chief, Office of Airports, Senior Aviation Safety Officer, acting independently or in a lead capacity, the Aviation Safety Officer II performs aviation safety and permit compliance functions that implement the State Aeronautics Act. The position has a regulatory role in enforcing State aeronautics laws and regulations. The Aviation Safety Officer II provides technical expertise to local agencies and airport/heliport owners/operators in the development, planning and effective operation of aeronautical facilities.

Special Requirements

• Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.
• A Commercial Pilot's certificate with a fixed-wing airplane and instrument rating is required.
• Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required.Failure to submit a Statement of Qualifications will disqualify candidates from the hiring process.

• Please describe an experience in which you provided technical advice to external stakeholders on a complex issue, the communication methods used, and the outcomes achieved from it.
• Please describe your recent flight experience (5 years).
