Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Transportation, Office of Aeronautics, seeks a Regional Engineer to lead planning, programming, and administering state and federal grant programs for roughly 45 public airports to ensure a safe and viable air transportation system.

You will work with two other regional teams, provide programmatic oversight and policy guidance on environmental reviews, coordination, and compliance, and travel within Minnesota about 20% of the time, sometimes by small aircraft to meet

Qualifications

PE licensure as minimum requirement.
Experience applying engineering principles and methods.
Experience managing transportation projects.
Experience in grant administration and compliance with funding policies.

Responsibilities

Determine eligibility of airport projects for federal or state funding and ensure enviro requirements are met.
Review reimbursement requests and project documents for compliance with standards.
Provide technical advice to cities, counties, and airport authorities to support airport development.
Meet with airport owners and consultants to maintain CIP for the State Airport System.
Review and provide comments on Airport Master Plans and ALPs to ensure timelines and standards.
Provide content expertise for educational outreach at events such as workshops and conferences.
