Job summary

Chromalloy is seeking a Quality Engineer - Metallurgical & Laboratory Operations in Orangeburg, NY to support laboratory operations, quality systems, and material evaluations for turbine engine components.

This role serves as a key technical resource for metallurgy, chemistry, materials characterization, and laboratory quality, supporting production, development, failure investigations, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemistry, Engineering, etc.).
• 3+ years in manufacturing, laboratory, materials, or quality environment.
• Experience with metallurgical analysis, materials characterization, laboratory testing, or analytical chemistry.
• Strong problem-solving, root cause analysis, and corrective action skills.
• Knowledge of quality systems, auditing, and continuous improvement methods.
• Ability to interpret engineering specifications and technical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform metallurgical, chemistry, materials characterization, imaging, and elemental analysis to support production and investigations.
• Operate, troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment (analytical chemistry instrumentation, optical microscopes, SEM).
• Evaluate raw materials and test results for compliance with specifications.
• Lead and support failure investigations and corrective actions.
• Provide technical expertise to manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers.
• Support NPI, process development, and continuous improvement projects.
• Train and mentor lab personnel on testing methods and procedures.
• Maintain and improve lab procedures and quality systems.
• Monitor lab quality metrics and drive improvements.
• Support audits from internal, customer, supplier, and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure compliance with applicable requirements and maintain a safe lab environment.
