Liberty University seeks an Aviation Maintenance Technician Instructor to develop curriculum and provide instruction in a FAA approved program. The instructor will oversee lab technicians, evaluate student performance, and ensure adherence to FAA standards, fostering an educational environment for future aviation maintenance professionals.
Under supervision of the Director of Aviation Maintenance Technician Program, the Aviation Maintenance Technician Instructor will develop and maintain curriculum, and to provide instruction to students during classroom, lab, and shop training within Liberty University’s FAA approved 14 CFR Part 147 curriculum to prepare students for careers as Aviation Maintenance Technicians and related fields. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to grading, tracking and documenting FAA required attendance, make-up time and material, and associated forms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruct students in all aspects of 14 CFR Part 147 required Airframe and Power Plant Certification course including classroom lectures. Lead and direct students in the completion of hands-on lesson-associated lab projects by demonstration and supervision. Evaluate and grade student’s performance in Subject Areas taught. Provide relevant information and feedback to the director regarding student progress in projects, including grading and record keeping. Prepare 14 CFR Part 147 Airframe and Powerplant certification course lessons, associated training aids and equipment for demonstration to, or for use by students. Research and order materials for training aids, equipment, and lesson-associated lab projects. Advise and recommend to the director regarding the purchase and procurement of equipment, materials, and supplies or use in the training. Teach, or assist in teaching, class, or projects for General, Airframe, and Powerplant subject areas approved to teach (per FAA approved LU AMTS OFFICIALS LIST, on file in the director’s office). Oversee and supervise assigned lab technician to the subject area. Assist in training new Staff/Faculty in the use and operation of training aids and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned by the director.

Be proficient in the field of aircraft technology, maintenance, and operations.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work EnvironmentThe working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting and heated (but not air-conditioned) hangar/shop area. It requires outdoor aircraft engine runs. Areas are well lighted with occasionally moderate to high noise levels. Hearing protection at times is required.
