Job summary

PSA Airlines seeks a Maintenance Safety & Compliance Specialist to advance the Safety Management System across the Maintenance Department. You will assist Base Managers with Root Cause Analysis, Management of Change, and risk assessments, promoting safety and compliance in the hangar environment.

The ideal candidate has an A&P certificate, a technical safety or aviation degree, 2+ years in the airline industry with safety program experience, and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A&P Certificate.
  • Advanced technical degree in safety, engineering, or aviation related field or closely related.
  • Minimum of 2 years in the airline industry with at least 1 year safety program experience.
  • Accident investigation, RCA and/or safety program experience.
  • Outstanding management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to speak/read/write in English.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Support the PSA Safety Management System (SMS) covering all areas in the Maintenance Department.
  • Assist in the promotion of the SMS in the Maintenance Department.
  • Assist in the drafting of SMS Risk Assessments and Management of Change forms.
  • Input and maintain all SMS documentation into the SMS database as required.
  • Monitor the effective implementation of policies, procedures, and programs through the Safety Assurance Process.
  • Work with front line employees to achieve cultural change within Maintenance.
  • Assist in the development and presentation of SMS training for Maintenance personnel.
  • Responsible for Maintenance New Hire Safety presentations for all new Maintenance Technicians.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk analysis, audits, observations, and mitigation planning.
  • Conduct Safety Investigations of significant mishaps and safety evaluations at facilities.
  • Assist Base managers with RCA investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations by all maintenance personnel (Technicians, Leads, Supervisors, Stores).
  • Inspect work areas for OSHA/EPA compliance.
  • Attend airport safety/compliance meetings at bases.
  • Maintain relations with managers, employees, customers, and regulators.
  • Interface with other departments, FAA, and union representatives on safety issues.
  • Develop and distribute maintenance safety articles and briefs.
  • Provide briefings on issues raised by safety reports to management.
  • Create information for Maintenance Safety Briefings.
  • Act as liaison between Maintenance bases, CASS, RCA and the ASAP ERC.
  • Participate in CASS and MDAG meetings.
  • Support accident/incident reduction efforts with safety data and trends.
  • Participate as Go Team Member during accidents.
  • Responsible for SMS outputs and safety risk management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
