Job summary

The University of the District of Columbia seeks an Aviation Maintenance Technology Instructor for its four-semester FAA Aviation Maintenance Technology Certification program. The role requires teaching at the Airport location and potentially another site.

This is a regular, full-time position reporting to the Division Director for Math, IT and Engineering. Responsibilities include delivering courses, maintaining records per FAA rules, and contributing to curriculum updates.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a current FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in this or a related field is preferred, but not required.
  • At least three years of experience teaching the subject matter is preferable.
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations, particularly 14 CFR Part 147.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches course(s) as assigned; available to teach during the day M-F; some weekend/evening work may be required.
  • Must be proficient in Airframe and sheet metal.
  • Maintains student records in compliance with FAA rules and college policies.
  • Engages in activities to facilitate student achievement of learning outcomes and offers ongoing feedback.
