Role Description The Aviation Instructor will provide high-quality instruction in aviation-related subjects to students enrolled in UDC programs, with a focus on aircraft systems, maintenance, and powerplant operations. This full-time, on-site role in the Washington DC-Baltimore Area includes preparing and delivering lectures, labs, and demonstrations; developing and updating course materials; and assessing student performance through assignments, exams, and practical evaluations. The instructor will maintain accurate records, support student advising and mentoring, and contribute to curriculum development to keep coursework aligned with current industry standards and regulatory requirements. Additional responsibilities may include participating in departmental meetings, engaging in professional development, and collaborating with colleagues to enhance program outcomes and student success.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess skills and experience in Aircraft Maintenance and Aircraft Systems.
  • Candidates should possess knowledge and practical experience with PowerPlant operations and related aircraft components.
  • Candidates should possess familiarity with Aircraft operations, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Candidates should possess Training skills, including the ability to design lessons, deliver instruction, and assess learner performance.
  • Relevant qualifications may include industry certifications (e.g., FAA Airframe and Powerplant license) and demonstrated experience in aviation maintenance or instruction.
  • A relevant academic credential (such as an associate or bachelor’s degree in aviation, aeronautics, or a related field) is preferred.
  • Strong communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to inclusive, learner-centered teaching, are beneficial.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an academic environment and stay current with developments in aviation technology and standards is advantageous.
