Are you passionate about Aviation and wish to explore new and exciting opportunities? Our growing aviation practice is searching for Aviation Engineers, and we hope you consider joining our team! As an Aviation Engineer, you will be an integral part of teams delivering design and plan production for general civil on a wide variety of projects, including site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activities at various size airports.

Responsibilities
  • In the role of Aviation Engineer, we will count on you to innovate and contribute to aviation-related tasks.
  • Identify and interpret guidance from FAA, USACE, and other agencies; begin to suggest alternative study or documentation methodologies.
  • Prepare approaches, scopes of work, and fee estimates for small projects.
  • Support technical development and career journey for technical staff.
  • Seek leadership roles in external professional aviation-related organizations (e.g., elected office, organizing or planning committees, panel presentations).
  • Apply and develop processes and tools; demonstrate thorough understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D (or similar) and Infraworks/AVI-Plan software.
  • Implement QMP procedures on performed tasks.
  • Coordinate with applicable agencies (FAA, EPA, local) and clients when developing/ preparing project design reports.
  • Lead analyses/design for specific components of a project and lead field reviews to ensure construction is in accordance with contract documents.
  • Provide marketing support and assist with technical write-ups of completed projects.
  • Maintain an updated resume and perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Previous experience with Airfield Planning and Design
  • Understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D (or similar design software), AVI-Plan software packages and Infraworks modeling software (or similar)
  • Overall understanding of airfield design
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Strong technical background and experience in designing several aspects of airfields
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Active participation in HDR’s employee-owned culture
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years experience with Airfield Planning and Design
