Job summary

MTU Aero Engines AG in Fort Worth, TX, seeks a skilled Engine Mechanic to support the complete lifecycle of DAT engine maintenance, including disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly in a high‑precision, safety‑driven environment.

You will work from OEM manuals, perform functional tests, support test cells, and coordinate with QA/Engineering. Shift options include first and second shifts with standard maintenance hours; travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • A&P license is preferred; powerplant license at minimum required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs or prepare parts for external repair as needed.
  • Assemble engines per OEM specs and torque/clearance requirements.

Job description

The Engine Mechanic in a DAT Engine MRO facility is responsible for the complete lifecycle of aircraft engine maintenance, including disassembly, inspection, repair, reassembly, and testing. This role demands high technical proficiency, strict adherence to aviation standards, and a commitment to safety and quality throughout the MRO process.Your tasksSafely disassemble aircraft engines and components according to OEM and regulatory procedures.Document and tag components for traceability and routing.Identify and report discrepancies or damage during teardown.Ensure proper handling and storage of parts to prevent contamination or damage.Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections using precision instruments (e.g., borescopes, micrometers, calipers).Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Engineering teams to assess part condition and repairability.Carry out minor repairs or prepare components for external repair stations.Maintain accurate records of inspection findings and repair actions.Reassembling engines following OEM specifications and work instructions.Apply correct torque values, clearances, and alignments during assembly.Replace seals, gaskets, bearings, and other consumables as required.Conduct functional checks and verify system integrity before testing.Support engine test cell operations including pre-test setup and post-test evaluations.Monitor engine performance parameters during testing (e.g., thrust, vibration, fuel flow).Troubleshoot and resolve issues identified during test runs.Assist in preparing engines for release to service or shipment.Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with 6S standards.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and lean practices.Attend training sessions to stay current with OEM updates and regulatory changes.Support audits and inspections by regulatory bodies (e.g., FAA, EASA).Your profileHigh school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma or associate degree in aviation maintenance preferred.FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification or equivalent (EASA Part-66, etc.) preferred.Experience in engine maintenance, preferably in a DAT MRO environment.Strong understanding of engine systems, components, and maintenance procedures.Familiarity with OEM manuals (e.g., CMM, AMM, IPC) and digital maintenance platforms.Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team-oriented environment.Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.Excellent work ethic and motivation for a high standard of workLeadership qualitiesPassport Preferred or the ability to obtain oneGlobal Travel as RequiredRepresent the company in a professional manner and reflect a positive image with customersEducation and Experience:High school diploma preferred; A&P License is acceptable but must have Powerplant license at the very leastMust have large engine experience in a setting other than line maintenance.
