Job summary

MTU Maintenance Fort Worth is seeking an experienced Inspector to perform thorough inspections of engines and components in compliance with FAA regulations. Responsibilities include maintaining inspection records, ensuring quality and regulatory requirements, and assisting with investigations. Candidates should have A&P certification and experience in engine maintenance.

Job description

The inspector will be responsible for the inspection of engines, engine parts, sub-assemblies, and accessories in accordance with FAA approved technical data or instructions. This includes receiving, in‑process, and final inspections.

Responsibilities
  • Perform complete inspections of components, sub‑assemblies, and assemblies using approved measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
  • Verify the execution, inspection, and successful completion of work performed.
  • Ensure all work‑scope instructions, quality, and regulatory requirements are complied with.
  • Maintain proficiency in the use of inspection aids, tools, and gauges routinely used.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and part replacements in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure calibrated tools have current calibration and consumable materials are within listed shelf life.
  • Assist in investigations into incidents or discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Comply with title 14 CFR parts; remain current on requirements and how to find data in 14 CFR Parts 1, 43, 65, and 145.
  • Ensure maintenance meets requirements of 14 CFR Parts 91, 121, 125, 135 and operator requirements.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Quality, Safety, Engineering Manager, Chief Inspector or Lead Inspector.
Profile / Qualifications
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills in working and communicating effectively with all levels in the organization.

  • Problem‑solving mindset and proactive, creative approach to challenges.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Web applications, and general technical data, including ESM, AMM, SB’s.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification preferred; Powerplant required.
  • Prior experience with engine maintenance, engine changes, engine inspections, and module removal & installation required.
  • Must be able to sit at a desk and work on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
  • Experienced A&P Licensed or P Licensed Technician capable of shop‑level work in both MTU maintenance shop and field, domestically and internationally.
  • Experience with Borescope inspections, top and bottom case compressor repairs, module removal and installation, engine change and QEC, AD and SB modifications, hot section replacements and repairs, configuration change, fan blade replacement, and lease return inspections.
  • Shop‑level maintenance required. Preferred experience with the following engines:
    • CFM 56
    • LEAP
  • Understands and can comply with FAA and EASA requirements for return to service engines and aircraft.
  • Complies with FAA, EASA and company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to learn as well as teach others on work scopes.
  • Assist engineers in testing and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Conduct heavy lifting of equipment and materials.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain and update equipment records in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Assist in general shop maintenance tasks as needed.

Shift Availability
  • Training – Monday to Friday, 7 am–3:30 pm
  • 1st Shift – Monday to Friday, 6 am–2:30 pm
  • 2nd Shift – Monday to Friday, 2 pm–10:30 pm
