Job summary

Talbert, Bright & Ellington, LLC (TBE) is a full-service aviation engineering firm seeking a Civil Engineering Designer (Aviation) to manage and perform civil design for airport-related projects in the Wilmington, NC and Richmond, VA offices, with Wilmington on-site five days a week.

The role focuses on airside and landside aviation design including runways, taxiways, pavements, drainage, and utilities, requiring a Bachelors in Civil Engineering and active licensure or E.I.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• Engineer Intern Certificate or Professional Engineer licensure in NC/SC/VA (or ability to obtain).
• 0-5 years of civil engineering design experience on transportation projects; aviation project experience preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Strong oral and written communication; analytical and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Design of Airfield projects including runways, taxiways, aircraft parking aprons, fuel systems, and NAVAIDs.
• Design of concrete and asphalt pavements.
• Develop specifications and final design of projects.
• Develop and manage project budgets and schedules.
• Prepare preliminary and final engineering reports and feasibility studies.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies, including the FAA, state aviation officials, and other state and local regulatory agencies.
• Stormwater, erosion, and sediment control design.
• Provide assistance and develop construction cost estimates and perform quality control reviews.
• Assist with the training and developing of engineering intern staff and technicians as needed.
• Develop project phasing and scheduling.
