Job summary

Woolpert’s Aviation Civil Internship in Kansas City, MO offers hands-on exposure to planning, design, and construction projects across the aviation spectrum, including taxiways, airports, hangars, and runways. This full-time summer internship runs May–August and is based in Kansas City with some onsite work.

You will join multi-disciplinary teams, support task leads, perform calculations, data analysis, drawings, and cost estimates, and gain experience alongside licensed professionals.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university, preferably with at least sophomore status
• Pursuing a Civil Engineering or related degree with interest in aviation infrastructure
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on multi-disciplinary teams across all project phases from programming to construction
• Ensure deliverables meet scope, schedule, and budget per Woolpert standards
• Work with Manager/Leadership to advise on client satisfaction, scope changes, risk, schedule and financial performance
• Contribute to civil design projects focused on airport infrastructure, aviation research, and planning
• Gain real-world experience on actual projects alongside licensed professionals
• Assist with calculations, data analysis, drawings/renderings, cost estimates, and design plans
• Work with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office and Bluebeam Revu
• Coordinate with internal teams, subconsultants, and clients
• Attend site visits to observe ongoing construction
• Perform tasks with a high degree of independence
