Job summary

Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, headquartered in Chicago, seeks a Litigation Paralegal for its Aviation and Aerospace Practice Group. The role entails supporting complex civil litigation, from discovery to trial, with duties including document preparation, subpoenas, and trial readiness.

The ideal candidate has five or more years in civil litigation, strong research and e-filing skills, and experience with associated litigation software.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of general civil litigation experience.
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Experience in the aviation/aerospace field is a plus.
• Proficiency with litigation software and e-filing in State and Federal Courts.
• Writes clearly and edits for spelling/grammar; able to adapt writing style.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness.

Responsibilities

• Continual review and management of case files from inception through mediation/arbitration/trial/settlement.
• Prepare subpoenas compelling depositions and/or document productions.
• Prepare initial discovery: interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admissions.
• Prepare draft responses to discovery and privilege logs.
• Prepare attorneys for depositions and assemble trial notebooks and exhibits.
• Research, vet and coordinate with subject matter experts.
• E-file in State and Federal Court systems; monitor deadlines.
• Prepare legal documents: briefs, pleadings, chronologies, agreements; assist trial teams.
• Attend trials as necessary.
