Job Overview

The AVANCE to College Coordinator is responsible for supporting the effective implementation of AVANCE to College across the AVANCE network. The AVANCE to College Coordinator works with the Director of AVANCE to College, AVANCE Chapter program leaders, higher education partners, and Student Navigators to provide a menu of support, including guidance on implementation, training and peer support. The AVANCE to College Coordinator continuously improves the AVANCE to College curriculum and ensures all program materials are accessible.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective implementation of the AVANCE to College program by:
    • Providing ongoing technical assistance to partner organizations utilizing the AVANCE to College curriculum through both in-person and virtual settings.
    • Supporting implementation planning with IHE partners.
    • Facilitating core training and annual updates and offering targeted professional development based on data and needs.
    • Visiting AVANCE to College sites to offer program support, such as curriculum planning, model lessons, guided practice and feedback, goal setting, and other support as needed.
    • Leading collaborative sessions across sites to gather feedback, support innovation, and encourage peer support.
    • Providing assistance with and guidance to Student Navigators across the AVANCE network.
  • Ensure a culture of continuous improvement and user-centered focus by:
    • Collaborating with the Director of AVANCE to College to continuously improve the AVANCE to College curriculum and network services based on data.
    • Supporting AVANCE to College partners with data collection, analysis, and evaluation.
    • Implementing data-informed decision-making to support training strategies and to make program improvements.
  • Communicate with leadership on programmatic status, updates and any concerns regarding the implementation of AVANCE to College.
  • Participate in assigned meetings, events and training as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Required:

  • Associate Degree in Education or a related field

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field

Work Experience

Required:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience training, mentoring and/or teaching adult learners
  • Experience with postsecondary and/or workforce development programs

Preferred:

  • Experience with curriculum writing a plus

Additional Skills

  • Charismatic trainer with experience training, mentoring and/or coaching teachers or adult learners
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English

Travel

  • Ability to travel to various sites: Dependable transportation is required daily with a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record (subject to annual MVR (Motor Vehicle Report) check and policy), current auto liability insurance and be bondable by AVANCE, Inc.
  • Travel required up to 25% of the time for work-related site visits, meetings, and functions.

Working Conditions

  • Work is generally performed in an office environment.
  • Noise level in the work environment is moderate to occasionally loud (examples: business office with computers and printers, light to moderate traffic, human voices).
  • Standard office equipment generally used includes:
    • Telephone
    • Personal Computer (monitor, keyboard, and mouse) or Tablet
    • Printer/Photocopy Machine
    • Calculator

Mental and Physical Demands

Maintain emotional control under stress; work with interruptions and deadlines; walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; occasional: lifting/carrying, pulling/pushing 10-30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Environmental Factors

Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.). Occasional exposure to weather related conditions when working in outside environment/neighborhoods and events.
