Job summary

Solitude Mountain Resort is seeking an Avalanche Mitigation Technician Specialist for a full-time seasonal role. The position involves extensive field work and reports to multiple supervisors within the patrol and avalanche mitigation leadership.

This non-supervisory role is part of the Solitude Ski Patrol bargaining unit. Qualified candidates will have Avalanche Pro 1 certification and relevant ski patrol/avalanche mitigation experience, with strong communication and leadership skills and deep

Qualifications

• Must hold Avalanche Pro 1 certification.
• 4 years ski patrol experience preferred.
• 3 years avalanche mitigation experience at a class 'A' resort preferred.
• Ski Patrol level 2 or above.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Strong understanding of Solitude operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in avalanche rescue training and mitigation techniques.
• Maintain explosive caches and assist in compliance with ATF regulations.
• Forecast avalanche danger and mitigate hazards.
• Document field data on snow and weather conditions.
• Assist in opening/closing terrain based on avalanche forecasts.
• Maintain aerial trams, shot cables, and signage.
• Set up and tear down remote weather stations.
• Lead an avalanche hasty team.
• Assist inter-agency rescue efforts with Wasatch Backcountry Rescue.
• Interface with remote rescues as needed.
