Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC is seeking an AV Technician to install, test, and commission low-voltage systems including AV, alarms, access control, and CCTV. The role requires reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and ensuring projects meet codes and customer expectations.

Travel to job sites and maintain safety procedures are essential. Ideal candidates have 3+ years of AV/low-voltage experience, a valid EL06 license, and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in the AV, low voltage, or fire and life safety industry as an apprentice or technician.
• License EL06 required.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if driving role.
• Strong working knowledge of AV, cabling, alarms, access control, CCTV, and low-voltage systems.

Responsibilities

• Install AV equipment and testing for expected performance, cable pulling, termination techniques.
• Perform routine maintenance and testing of AV equipment and cabling.
• Install, test, and commission alarms, access control, CCTV, and related low-voltage systems.
• Manage cabling, connectivity, and system integration.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and manuals.
• Ensure compliance with codes and customer requirements.
• Document work orders and project reports accurately.

Build your career with the industry-leading fire, life safety and security company.The AV Technician is responsible for performing the installation, testing, and commissioning of low voltage systems including AV, alarms, access control, CCTV, and other low-voltage systems. This role is fully functioning within core technical responsibilities and can complete standard installation jobs. The technician ensures systems are installed properly, meet customer expectations, and comply with applicable codes and standards.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Install AV equipment (e.g., speakers, projectors, displays) and testing for expected performance, perform cable pulling, termination techniques, and use best practices.Perform routine maintenance and testing of AV equipment and cabling.Perform installation, testing, and commissioning of alarms, access control systems, CCTV, and related low-voltage security systems.Manage cabling, connectivity, and system integration.Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, system layouts, and technical manuals.Install system components including devices, panels, wiring, and associated hardware according to project specifications.Test and verify proper system functionality and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.Troubleshoot installation issues and complete corrective actions in a timely and professional manner.Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete installation work efficiently and safely.Complete installation documentation, work orders, and project reports accurately and on time.Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors regarding job progress and project status.Follow all company safety procedures and customer site requirements.Travel to job sites as required.Other duties as assigned by management.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent.3+ years of experience in the AV, low voltage, or fire and life safety industry as an apprentice or technician.EL06 License required.Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if driving role.Strong working knowledge of AV, cabling, alarms, access control, CCTV, and low-voltage systems.Ability to work independently and complete standard installation jobs without direct supervision.AQSC Certification, Avixa/CTS Certification, Extron, ETCP preferred.Experience with commercial AV systems and integrated low-voltage platforms preferred.Other Duties:Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.Performs other duties as assigned.Physical Requirements & Work Environment:Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.Ability to lift 50+ pounds.Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.Use of hand tools and testing equipment.Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.Pay Range:$40K - $90K annually DOEBenefits and Perks:Excellent payMedical, dental, visionCompany paid life insuranceCompany paid short-term disability401K with employer matchPaid vacation and company holidaysTraining and Career DevelopmentCompany vehicle (if job applicable)Immediate qualification for the ALL In Ownership Plan for all eligible full-time employeesPye-Barker Fire & Safety is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
