Job summary

Spye, a national leader in integrated system technology, seeks an AV Design Engineer to design and specify customer AV solutions for the commercial market. You will collaborate with sales and project teams, diagram systems in AutoCAD and Visio, and help create accurate proposals with D-Tools.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years experience in the AV field.
• CTS Certification achieved or in sight.
• Knowledge of Extron, Crestron, Shure, Cisco/Polycom, Teams/ZoomRooms, Dante, AV over IP, video walls, IPTV, digital signage, network topology.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Visio.
• Experience with Windows OS and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to read construction documents to inform AV design decisions.
• Knowledge of installation of AV gear (speakers, displays, cameras, cabling, racks, interfaces).
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and processes.
• Commitment to staying current on AV technologies and training.

Responsibilities

• Consult with Sales to establish client needs and present solutions.
• Determine client expectations for system functionality.
• Design complete systems for quoting (equipment, parts, labor).
• Diagram systems using AutoCAD and Visio.
• Coordinate with project manager on proposals and timelines.
• Create timely and accurate proposals with the sales team (D-Tools).
• Conduct site surveys to gather information for proposals.
• Support sales with pre-sale drawings and modeling.
• Research new AV products to stay current.
• Travel to customer sites or Spye offices as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The AV Design Engineer will collaborate with Spye’s sales and project teams to deliver competitive, cutting edge solutions that exceed customer expectations. The position is responsible for the technical design and specification of customer solutions, primarily for the commercial market. The list of requirements below is ideal. Responsibilities

• Consult with the Sales team to establishcustomer needs and present solutions to customers.
• Determine client expectations for systemfunctionality through communication with the sales department and client.
• With the sales department, recommend generaland specific solutions to clients.
• Design complete systems forquoting including equipment, parts, consumables, and labor.
• Diagram systems using AutoCAD and Visio.
• Work with a project manager to manage proposalsincluding coordination of installers with end client and tracking of time andmaterials.
• Collaboratingwith sales team to create timely and accurate proposals in D-Tools,coordinating with sales to apply targeted profit percentages
• Conductingsite surveys to gather the information necessary to create accurate proposals
• Supportingsales process as needed with pre-sale drawings/modeling/documentation
• Research new products to remain current ontechnology solutions.
• Some travel to customer site and/or Spyeoffices in Minneapolis
• All other duties as assigned and deemedappropriate.

Required

• 3 to 5 years (or more) experience in theaudio/visual field
• AVIXA CTS Certification achieved or in sight
• Knowledge of the following productlines/protocols/concepts: Extron, Crestron, Shure, Cisco/Polycom, Teams/ZoomRooms, Dante, AV over IP, video walls (LCD & LED), IPTV, digital signage, networktopology
• Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and VISIO
• Experience with Windows OS and the MicrosoftOffice Suite
• Ability to read construction documents toinform AV design decisions related to building construction and infrastructure
• Knowledge of installation of products such asceiling/wall mounted speakers, displays, cameras, cabling infrastructure, AVracks, wall plates and interfaces (audio, video, or control), microphones(ceiling, table, wired or wireless)
• Excellent Verbal & Written CommunicationSkills

• Commitment to maintaining an expert level ofknowledge regarding existing and emerging AV technologies, seeking out trainingand certifications beneficial for personal growth
