Overview

AV Project Design Manager. Designer centered around technologies such as Audio Visual, Network Infrastructure and/or Security.

Job Description

The role has direct oversight for the design, related purchasing and vendor procurement, and installation of the AV network systems on behalf of the client, with a focus on performance, stability, and efficiency to support business functions and operations of related AV systems for assigned client location.

This role works closely with senior IT leadership, related real estate and construction project team members, management teams as well as contractors and vendors throughout the client space to ensure the infrastructure systems meet or exceed the business requirements for the account. The role will also coordinate the work per the project design AV specification and product procurement to ensure compliance with design standards, support requirements, and the client’s mission.

Typically plays a key role in coordinating complex, large-scale projects (office spaces, conference rooms, auditoriums) related to the design/project management of AV technology solutions in new building construction or building space tenant improvement (TI) renovation projects.

This is a non-supervisory exempt level position.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage infrastructure projects and system development, related procurement tasking, and installations enhancements related to the client’s space planning and AV infrastructure.
  • Works closely with network architects, other IT teams, and external customers to design infrastructure systems, enhance network infrastructure, and conducts frequent functional audits to prevent downtimes, system failures and ensure future growth of infrastructure systems.
  • Responsible for managing the installation of AV and related IT/tech systems to comply with project specifications and client standards, and to ensure that a completed system is delivered to the customer.
  • Manage multiple project schedules and necessary resources, including AV installation technicians, control systems programmers, engineers, and contracted vendors/contractors.
  • Coordinate the tasks and flow of the project, including design, purchasing, installation, programming, testing, and communication with vendors and all involved parties
  • Gather requirements, standardize, and maintain AV designs and programs, oversee deployment, and enhance the Audio-Visual infrastructure for all client assigned spaces, ensuring their quality, stability, recoverability, and security
  • Train and mentor AV system engineers, support technicians, and other staff as needed
  • Related focus could include
  • Design
    • Drive adherence to client standards for AV projects development and design
    • Tech programming in coordination with client network and constructions teams
    • Confirmation of IDF and MDF rooms, location and size
    • Design/develop IDF and MDF layout and rack elevations
    • Design/develop electrical and mechanical needs for IDF, MDF, equipment and racks
    • Design/develop all drawings, in Revit or AutoCAD, to share with architects/engineers for: audiovisual, low voltage, sound masking, security, project specifications
    • Develop Bill of Materials
    • Develop material budgets at SD/DD/CD phases
  • Guidelines
    • Maintain Client standards and ensure Client Guidelines website is up to date
    • Bring forth new products and technology for Client’s consideration
  • Project Coordination could include
    • Site surveys
    • Bid leveling and recommendations
    • RFI review, response, and approval flow
    • Change order review and approval flow
    • Construction oversight administration related to AV projects installation
    • Project close out to ensure all objectives met on time and in budget
    • Could administer client database of configuration, design, and components for all AV spaces
    • Establishes and manages a schedule of projects and provides to leadership regular reporting on state, progress, budgeting, and completion dates
  • Comply with all safety procedures and Cushman & Wakefield / client related safety policies.
  • Complete all required Cushman & Wakefield training modules as scheduled annually.

Related Requirements

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain knowledge and abilities would be:

Education

A High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, related degree or equivalent combination of education and experience highly preferred.

Years of Relevant Experience

Any combination of the following, to equal 5-8 years total related experience related to:

  • General IT: Five (5) years of related experience demonstrating a progression of dealing with increasingly complex systems.
  • Audio Visual Engineering Experience: Three (3) years minimum with designing AV signal flows and using AutoCAD to create AV design diagram, to include preferred direct experience with: engineering design and project management; design, installation of electronic equipment; preparing and reading blueprints; drawings and schematics and electronics; integration of audio-visual technology; AV technologies and IT systems on a technical level; test and troubleshoot audiovisual systems

This is not an entry level position but requires a talented engineer who can take our clients ideas and help bring them to fruition

Licenses or Certifications

AutoCAD certification highly preferred. Working and expert knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT application is required. Graduate of other related technical certification program or trade school is preferred.

  • Position requires a mix of technical and project management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe and Revit software packages is essential.
  • Superior computing skills in virtual environment; for example, with Microsoft Office suite, Outlook, Excel & Word, including proficiency in the operation of smartphone and/or iPad/tablet, uploading .pdf files, and documents, and logging into conference meetings (i.e., BlueJeans, Teams Meetings, Zoom).
  • Able to function with autonomy, making sound and timely decisions as appropriate using good judgment to ensure appropriate escalation when needed, including communicating risks, benefits, and alternatives.
  • Able to anticipate problems and proactively develop appropriate solutions.
  • Able to diagnose and resolve complex problems.
  • Able to design, analyze, evaluate, and implement complex Audio-Visual systems and solutions to meet clients objectives, KPIs, and budget.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks or projects meeting assigned deadlines with strong attention to detail and follow through skills.
  • Possesses and maintains extensive industry knowledge of enterprise audio visual system design.
  • In-depth knowledge of enterprise Audio-Visual switching, routing, multiplexers, control systems, display devices, scalers, amplifiers, speakers, microphones, cameras, lighting controls, media players, ADA devices, power controllers, rack layout, related software, lecterns, and instructor workstations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skillset established initiative to focus on teamwork and displaying the ability to work well with and through others.
  • General understanding and ability to navigate the networking and political protocols for virtual and hybrid work.
  • Strong negotiation and communications skills for presentation + use of data analytics for apt storytelling of the project directive and tracking.
  • Must possess the ability to work in a high-volume, fast paced, dynamic environment with a positive attitude, keeping optimal service skills at the forefront as the account and client culture is high demand with high expectations for performance deliverables achieved.

The compensation offered depends on factors such as location, market pay rates, and candidate experience. The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role. The salary range is $103,955.00 - $122,300.00.
