Field AV Engineer (Commercial) - San Diego, CA Location: San Diego, CA (local travel required, occasional out-of-state travel possible)
About the Role Our client is seeking 2-3 experienced Field AV Engineers to support a variety of commercial audiovisual (AV) projects across the San Diego area. This is a hands-on, field-based role ideal for professionals who are passionate about AV technology, system integration, and delivering high-quality installations.
You'll be working across multiple job sites, supporting the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of AV systems. Occasional travel outside of California may be required based on project needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, configure, and troubleshoot commercial AV systems
* Interpret and work from AV system design drawings and schematics
* Program and commission systems using platforms such as Crestron, Q-SYS, and Extron
* Collaborate with project managers, designers, and technicians to ensure successful project delivery
* Maintain high standards of workmanship in line with InfoComm/AVIXA and manufacturer specifications
Required Skills & Experience
* 3-5+ years of experience in commercial AV installation and engineering
* Strong knowledge of AV signal flow, system design, and integration
* Hands-on experience with Crestron, Q-SYS, and other control/DSP platforms
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
* Familiarity with networking concepts related to AV (e.g., AV-over-IP, VLANs, Dante)
Preferred Qualifications
* AV industry certifications (e.g., CTS, CTS-I, CTS-D)
* Experience with AutoCAD or similar design tools
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
* Strong work ethic and a positive, team-oriented attitude

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
