We are seeking an AV Design Engineer 2 to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. In this role, you will be part of a team that designs, engineers, integrates, operates, and maintains electronic security services including intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio-visual systems, IT systems, perimeter defense, and command and control systems for federal, local, and commercial clients across high-growth markets.


Responsibilities

You will work with a dynamic team of system engineers responsible for design decisions across various projects involving A/V Systems. Your responsibilities include designing hardware and software frameworks for large, complex resilient systems, and formulating high-level architectural solutions to meet stakeholder needs, standards, and performance requirements. Key activities include:

  • Creating drawing packages and bill of materials in CAD.
  • Designing and testing complex videoconferencing and integrated audio/visual technologies, including control systems, displays, video walls, audio reinforcement, cameras, microphones, streaming technologies, etc.
  • Designing audio/video systems with Crestron, AMX, and Extron control systems.
  • Conducting customer site surveys, providing sales engineering support, gathering operational and technical requirements, developing project scopes, and providing system cost estimates.
  • Designing, testing, and troubleshooting network and telecommunications systems, including IP and ISDN networks.
  • Interpreting plans and specifications to select appropriate materials and equipment to meet project requirements.
  • Applying design techniques, tools, and principles in producing electrical plans, blueprints, and drawings.
  • Developing goals and plans to prioritize and organize work.
  • Developing test plans for AV control system acceptance testing.
  • Conducting on-site user and administrative training for installed AV systems.

Qualifications

Clearance/Citizen Type: Applicants must undergo a security investigation and meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship. ACTIVE SECRET clearance is REQUIRED, with the ability to obtain TOP SECRET clearance.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 2+ years' OR Master's Degree in Engineering with 0+ years' of experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience developing hardware and software solutions for data center and virtual infrastructure technologies.
  • Experience with cost estimates and work breakdown structures for complex projects.
  • Experience mentoring junior colleagues.
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%, including internationally.
  • Knowledge of IT, telecommunications, A/V, electrical equipment, and standards.
  • Experience reading blueprints and performing complex design/build practices.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar software.
  • Strong communication skills, including presenting to executive leadership.
  • Problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
