Job summary

Reworld is seeking an Auxiliary Operator to join our Maryland facility. You will operate and inspect power plant systems in collaboration with the control room, ensuring safe and efficient disposal processes in line with Covanta's standards.

Responsibilities include monitoring boilers and auxiliary equipment, reading data from meters, and performing sampling and testing as required. A rotating shift schedule is needed, with readiness for heavy equipment operation across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience operating heavy industrial equipment.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to work a rotating shift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Operate and inspect power plant systems in accordance with safety operating procedures, including boilers and air pollution control systems.
• Monitor and inspect boiler plant auxiliary equipment: pumps, motors, fans, dampers, air compressors, valves, mixers, conveyors, turbine generators and electrical devices.
• Read and interpret data from meters, gauges, and other measuring tools to identify trends and potential equipment disruptions.
• Monitor air pollution control equipment and maintain safe operations.
• Perform sampling, chemistry testing, and treatment of water as required.
• Safely operate heavy industrial mobile equipment such as cranes, skid steers, loaders, and forklifts.
• Maintain correct levels of refuse-fuel in equipment and ensure proper refuse mix in pits and areas.
• Carry out additional duties to ensure safe and efficient facility operations.

About the role

As an Auxiliary Operator, you will work in collaboration with our facility control room to operate and inspect various power plant systems safely and efficiently to ensure the operational effectiveness of Covanta's industrial disposal process.

Position Responsibilities

• Operate and inspect power plant systems in accordance with safety operating procedures, systems include, but are not exclusively limited to boilers, air pollution control systems, ash systems, and heavy industrial equipment
• Monitor and inspect various boiler plant auxiliary equipment, including pumps, motors, fans, dampers, air compressors, valves, mixers, conveyors, turbine generators and electrical devices
• Read and interpret data from meters, gauges, and industrial measuring tools to identify trends and/or potential equipment disruptions that impact facility operations
• Monitor air pollution control equipment
• Perform various types of material sampling, chemistry testing, and treatment of water, as required
• Safely operate heavy industrial mobile equipment, such as: cranes, skid steers, loaders, and forklifts
• Responsible to maintain correct levels of refuse-fuel in operations equipment, and ensure appropriate refuse mix in designated pits and areas of operations
• Additional duties as assigned to ensure safe and efficient facility operations

Position Requirements & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred
• A minimum of 2-3 years' experience operating heavy industrial equipment
• Must have the ability to work a rotating shift schedule

Pay Transparency

Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably, and we strive to provide competitive compensation and benefits packages. The range below reflects Reworld's reasonable estimate of base pay for this role based on primary posting location. It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable). Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future.

The pay range for the primary location of this position is: 34.62 - 46.06 USD per hour
