Job summary

PIC Staffing is seeking an Auxiliary Operator to support a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant in New Mexico. The role focuses on safe, reliable operation of plant systems, monitoring equipment, conducting water chemistry tests, and supporting maintenance and startup/shutdown activities.

The position requires 5+ years of hands-on CCGT experience, strong understanding of plant startup/shutdown procedures, and familiarity with water chemistry and LOTO safety.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience operating and supporting combined cycle power plants.
• Strong understanding of plant startups, shutdowns, unit transitions, and coordination with Control Room Operations.
• Knowledge of boiler water chemistry, conductivity/TDS trends, pH control, and chemical treatment programs.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, operating procedures, and process flow diagrams.
• Familiarity with industrial safety practices, including lockout/tagout (LOTO).

Responsibilities

• Monitor operating parameters and perform routine inspections to identify abnormal conditions.

The Auxiliary Operator is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant systems and equipment. This role includes monitoring plant equipment, performing water chemistry testing, supporting maintenance activities, and assisting with plant startups, shutdowns, and overall operational readiness.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Support the safe and efficient operation of CCGT plant equipment and auxiliary systems under the direction of the Operations Manager and Control Room Operator.
• Monitor plant operating parameters and perform routine inspections to identify abnormal conditions or equipment issues.
• Support plant startups, shutdowns, and unit transitions, including coordination with Control Room Operations.
• Operate and maintain plant systems including rotating equipment, water treatment systems, and chemical feed systems.
• Perform water chemistry testing and support chemical treatment programs to maintain proper plant chemistry and equipment reliability.
• Assist with preventive maintenance activities, troubleshooting, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and routine mechanical and electrical repairs.
• Assist with chemical handling, offloading activities, and emergency response efforts as needed.
• Complete operational logs, reports, and inventory documentation while supporting all plant safety and regulatory compliance programs.

Job Requirements

• Strong understanding of combined cycle operations, including startups, shutdowns, and unit transitions.
• Experience operating combustion turbines, steam cycle equipment, HRSG systems, and plant auxiliaries.
• Knowledge of boiler water chemistry, conductivity/TDS trends, pH control, and chemical treatment programs.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, operating procedures, and process flow diagrams.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Familiarity with industrial safety practices, including lockout/tagout (LOTO).

Education / Experience

• High School Diploma required.
• 5+ years of experience working in a combined cycle power plant environment.
