Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or GED and one year of general office and administrative experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Receives, photographs, tags and appropriately stores decedents and skeletal specimens.
• Undresses, washes, weighs, measures and photographs decedents for autopsy preparation.
• Assists in opening cavities during autopsy; handles organ and fluid specimens; prepares histology cassettes.
• Maintains postmortem storage and proper decedent identification and chain of custody.
• Enters decedent data into the computer system; inventories medications and ensures secure storage.
• May testify in court regarding tasks performed.
