Job summary

Liebherr Mining Equipment Newport News Co. is seeking an Autonomy Systems Engineer to research, develop, design, and validate mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic hardware with control logic for large haul trucks and autonomous variants.

The role involves creating schematics, performing simulations, interfacing with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical teams, and writing software for model-based control; recruitment spans Levels 1–4 with growth opportunities and a strong development program.

Qualifications

Master of Science degree or equivalent in electrical/mechanical engineering.
BS/ME/EE/mechatronics with substantial relevant electrical experience.
Associates degree with long electrical experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

Develops mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systems for large mining haul trucks and autonomous versions.
Performs system calculations and simulations.
Creates schematics of system operation and design.
Interfaces with Mechanical, Hydraulic, and Electrical disciplines to specify control logic for haul truck functions.
Writes software and utilizes model-based design for control modules.
Develops detailed test requests for component and system validation.
Works independently or in teams on various projects.
Participates in the Engineering Development Program.
