Job summary

Mainstream Engineering Corporation seeks a Robotics Engineer to build an autonomous systems portfolio for government and commercial clients. You will work across mechanical design, sensor architecture, and onboard autonomy from concept to fielded prototype, defining your research direction and growing the team as work matures.

You will mentor junior engineers, write technical proposals, and interface with customers to translate requirements into workable solutions.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience designing, building, or testing robotic/autonomous systems.
• Experience selecting/integrating sensors for autonomy.
• Mentor and grow junior engineers as the portfolio expands.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop autonomous systems (undersea/ground) from concept to fielded prototype.
• Architect sensor suites and integrate with mechanical/electrical systems.
• Develop onboard autonomy stack (estimation, planning, control, decision).
• Build/test prototypes in field, at-sea, or outdoor environments.
• Write technical proposals to government and private customers.
• Lead internal IRAD efforts to mature capabilities.
• Interface with customers to capture requirements and demonstrate capability.
• Mentor junior engineers and support existing programs as portfolio grows.
