Job summary

DiDi Autonomous Driving seeks a Senior/Staff System Safety Engineer, Autonomy to lead safety strategy and deployment readiness for unmanned autonomous driving systems. You will define safety frameworks, release policies, and system-level processes to enable safe scaling and deployment.

You will collaborate across Software, Product, Operations, and Safety teams to ensure rigorous safety standards and continuous improvement toward large-scale deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 3-5 years of industry experience in systems engineering, safety engineering, autonomous systems, or related field.
• Strong systems thinking and ability to translate safety goals into practical solutions.
• Experience collaborating across teams and owning safety outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Own safety evaluation and release strategy for unmanned autonomous operations with criteria for release, degradation, and fallback.
• Design and champion safety requirements, system architecture, and V&V plans.
• Assess unmanned workflows, emergency protocols, and supporting tools for safety and ops readiness.
• Develop metrics frameworks translating safety goals into verifiable indicators.
• Lead safety incident reviews and drive continuous improvements in design and procedures.
• Collaborate with Software, Product, Operations, and Safety teams for deployment decisions.
