Job summary

Shield AI is hiring software engineers to develop and optimize path planning algorithms for autonomous systems in real-world environments. You will work on the Behavior and Motion planning team with opportunities to own major capabilities, mentor juniors, and shape architecture.

Role spans research, design, and production software, primarily in C++, with Python for prototyping and testing. The team collaborates across disciplines to deliver scalable autonomy solutions and validate performance in

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science, robotics, or a related field, plus 5+ years of relevant professional experience or PhD with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong C++ experience with safe concurrency patterns and debugging data races, deadlocks, and lifetime issues.
• Proficient in Python for prototyping, analysis, automation, or testing.
• Excellent fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, testing, debugging, and version control.
• Experience developing and debugging software on Linux.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, and implement state-of-the-art algorithms for autonomous trajectory planning and control for single and multi-agent systems.
• Build reliable, robust, and maintainable software in C++, with Python for prototyping and testing.
• Develop tests and evaluate planning stack performance in simulation and on real hardware when available.
• Diagnose complex algorithmic and software failures, including concurrency and integration issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements and deliver capabilities.
• Contribute to scalable and maintainable autonomy/software architecture and analysis tools.
