Skydio is seeking a Research Intern to join our world-class computer vision and autonomy team in the San Mateo area. You will own a project that advances simulator capabilities, from core architecture to sensor modeling, working closely with engineers across autonomy, perception, and controls.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering experience with C++ and Python.
• Experience with time-synchronized or real-time systems.
• Ability to work in a large, evolving codebase with multiple stakeholders.
• Interest in robotics, simulation, or physical systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evolve the foundational architecture of the Skydio Simulator.
• Improve physics models governing vehicle motion and interactions.
• Build high-fidelity simulations of sensors and hardware components.
• Run and validate the full autonomy stack in simulation.
• Develop simulator capabilities for training scenarios and testing modes.
• Collaborate with autonomy, perception, and controls engineers to align simulation with real-world behavior.
