Job summary

Kodiak Robotics, based in Mountain View, CA, is advancing autonomous trucking safety. This role focuses on owning elements of the safety strategy, with emphasis on probabilistic risk assessment and high-assurance software development in Python and C++.

You will contribute to hazard analysis, validation planning, and cross-functional safety integration to deliver safe autonomous driving systems.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in engineering, mathematics, statistics or related field.
• Strong background in probability, statistics and modeling.
• Experience building probabilistic models and simulation.

Responsibilities

• Write Python code to estimate risk using Bayesian probabilistic models.
• Write C++ code to search for failure modes in high-dimensional spaces.
• Run simulations and analyze results to inform engineering priorities.
• Pioneer methods to achieve high safety levels in autonomous driving.
• Perform hazard analysis, risk assessments, and fault tree analyses.
• Collaborate across teams to integrate safety in development.
• Develop and execute comprehensive validation strategies.
• Drive continuous safety process and tool improvements.
