Job summary

Zoox in Foster City, CA invites a part-time student worker to join the Safety Strategy & Operations team for a six-month data-driven project. You will help build a risk model that quantifies driving performance and surface safety signals across the autonomy stack, while contributing to data pipelines and experiments.

You’ll work with engineers and researchers, apply Python, SQL, and big-data tools, and develop experiments that show results with data rather than assumptions.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Engineering, CS, Statistics, Physics, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Solid data manipulation with SQL, PySpark, and Scala.
• Solid foundation in statistics, ML, and risk/reliability modeling.
• Ability to communicate results clearly to team and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build and iterate on a data-driven safety risk model for autonomous driving.
• Develop and maintain dataset management pipelines with labeling and quality checks.
• Design and run empirical experiments to show results with data.
