Job summary

Caterpillar invites students to join a 12-week internship focused on Physical AI and automation across construction tech. You'll work on projects linking machines, data, and software, contributing to safer, more efficient job sites. The program emphasizes hands-on experience and cross‑functional collaboration.

Interns will gain exposure to MATLAB/Simulink/C++ tooling, leadership opportunities, and networking with Caterpillar teams worldwide, onsite in Illinois.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled full time at a 4-year University/College in Computer Science, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or related degree at the time of application and throughout the program
• Must have completed 12 credit hours prior to the start of the program
• Minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA, no rounding
• Must be able to relocate to internship location for the duration of the internship and complete daily commute using reliable transportation
• Top Candidates will also have: Demonstrated leadership experience
• Top candidates will also have: Previous technical internship, co-op, or research/relevant experience
