Job summary

Zoox, based in Foster City, CA, is seeking a Hardware Engineer for its Test Development team. You will build and run tests on vehicle ECUs, develop test automation in Python, and use AI tools to accelerate validation and test creation.

You’ll collaborate across validation, design, firmware, and supplier quality to troubleshoot issues and improve test coverage. This onsite role requires hands-on lab work, fixture development, and cross-functional coordination to ensure ECUs meet temperature,

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hardware test, hardware validation or electrical engineering experience.
• Hands-on with lab equipment like oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, DMMs, and data acquisition systems.
• Experience building or modifying test setups such as harnesses, fixtures or instrumentation and reading schematics to debug board-level issues.
• Proficient in Python for test automation or data analysis.
• Comfortable using AI tools to review docs, synthesize information, and build test tooling.

Responsibilities

• Build, debug and maintain test setups for vehicle ECUs, including fixtures, test carts, harnesses, fault injection racks, power supplies, electronic loads, data acquisition and thermal chambers.
• Run electrical, environmental and reliability tests in Foster City labs and at local test labs, documenting results clearly.
• Write test automation and tools in Python, using AI tools to review specifications and procedures, synthesize results and speed up development.
• Support root cause analysis of test failures with validation, design, firmware and supplier quality engineers; track issues to closure in Jira.
• Add capacity where needed by turning validation plans into working test setups and procedures.
