Job summary

JLG Industries, an Oshkosh company, is seeking a robotics-oriented student to join the advanced technologies group.

You will work on developing next-generation products using AI-based object detection, virtual and augmented reality, and autonomous platforms. The role emphasizes hands-on learning with ROS2, OpenCV, TensorFlow/PyTorch, and embedded hardware, in a dynamic team environment.

Qualifications

• Student working toward a bachelor's degree in robotics, computer, or electrical engineering.
• Must be fluent in C++, Python, Linux (or Ubuntu).
• Exposure to training and deployment workflow, such as Rodolfo.

Responsibilities

• Understand problems and develop solutions.
• Use Python, C++ as programming tools in Linux.
• Use OpenCV APIs for image processing and/or AR development.
• Use ROS2 to build and deploy autonomy onto robotic platforms.
• Use TensorFlow or PyTorch to create deep learning models (transfer learning).
• Use NVIDIA Jetson or similar boards to train/deploy ML models.
• Hands-on experience with aerial work platforms, telehandlers, and scissors.
• Design, model and test systems that integrate with a machine.
• Understand Product Development Process, Life Cycle Management, Reliability, and DFM.

YOUR IMPACT

• Understand the problem and develop a solution
• Use Python, C ++ as programming tools in Linux operating system
• Use OpenCV APIs for image processing and / or augmented realty application development
• Use Robot Operating System (ROS2) to build and deploy autonomy onto robotic platforms
• Use TensorFlow, PyTorch to create deep learning models using transfer learning approach
• Use NVIDIA Jetson or similar embedded boards to train and deploy deep learning/ machine learning models
• Hands-on experience working on aerial work platforms, telehandlers, and scissors
• Design, model and test new systems that integrate with a machine.
• Understand the Product Development Process, Life Cycle Management, Reliability, and Design for Manufacturing requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Student working towards a bachelors degree in robotics, computer, and electrical engineering
• Must be fluent in C++, Python, Linux (or Ubuntu)
• Exposure to training and deployment workflow, such as Rodolfo
• A positive attitude with a strong desire to learn through theory and practice
• Graduation date of December 2025 or 2026

• Exposure to neural network development frameworks, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Experience in extracurricular activities outside academic requirements
• Previous internship experience or work-related experience
• Ability to work independently while prioritizing workload
• Flexible and adaptable to working under tight deadlines and/or changing needs
• A desire to learn multiple disciplines of engineering

WORKING CONDITIONS

• This role combines office-based administrative duties with physical activity in field or production environments.
• In the office setting, tasks may require extended computer use, sitting, and attending meetings.
• Field or floor work may involve walking across various terrains or shop floors, standing, moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds), climbing stairs, and exposure to varying temperatures or noise levels.
• Must be able to shift focus between detailed cognitive work and occasional physical tasks as needed.

Pay Range

$18.00 - $37.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
