Job summary

FieldAI’s Irvine team builds autonomous robotic systems that move from simulation to field deployment. As a Robotics Autonomy Engineer, Planning, you will craft motion planning, trajectory generation, and control algorithms for diverse robotic platforms, from wheeled to humanoid architectures, ensuring robust real‑world performance.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field (PhD a plus).
• Strong understanding of motion planning, trajectory generation, and control systems.
• Experience developing algorithms for one or more robotic systems (wheeled, legged, wheeled-legged, humanoid).
• Familiarity with motion planning libraries like OMPL, MoveIt, Nav2 stack etc.
• Solid programming skills in C++ and Python on Linux-based systems.
• Familiarity with robotics middleware such as ROS/ROS 2.
• Experience with robot sensors including LiDARs, stereo/depth cameras, IMUs, GPS, wheel encoders.
• Ability to work on US government project.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and deploy motion planning and navigation algorithms for real-world scenarios.
• Tune control algorithms for precise trajectory tracking across diverse robotic systems.
• Collaborate across perception, planning, and control for robust real-world performance.
• Build and maintain testing pipelines from unit validation to full robot deployment.
