Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Irving, TX is seeking an Autonomy Engineer focused on positioning and localization for autonomous and semiautonomous systems. You will prototype and productionize localization algorithms using perception-based, inertial, and GNSS inputs.

As part of the localization team, you will write high-quality production C++ code, collaborate across engineering disciplines, and help bring algorithms from prototype to production while ensuring robust performance and safety.

Qualifications

• Excellence in C++ programming and production-grade software development.
• Fluency in Python and strong debugging/profiling skills.
• Experience with localization including SLAM, graph optimization, and state estimation.

Responsibilities

• Research and design of localization algorithms and software
• Develop production quality C++ software including design, documentation, coding, product quality, and validation
• Support requirements generation and architecture design considerations for the localization architecture
• Support functional safety software design and validation process
• Collaborate and mentor localization team members to execute on goals
