Job summary

Dematic in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Software Engineer - R&D & Sustaining to translate requirements into scalable AGV software solutions. You will design, develop, test, and debug software for autonomous vehicle systems, including sequencing, perception, detection, motion control, navigation, I/O, GUIs, and safety systems.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/SE/Robotics.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal teams to translate requirements into scalable and robust AGV software solutions.
• Design, develop, test, and debug software for autonomous vehicle systems, including job sequencing, environmental perception, object detection, motion control, navigation, embedded I/O, graphical user interfaces, and safety systems.
• Take ownership of assigned software modules, ensuring quality, maintainability, and long-term support.
• Investigate software issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement durable solutions.
• Develop and maintain software using Delphi and related tools and frameworks.
• Support software productization and deployment, working with execution teams to ensure successful software releases.
• Participate in software release cycles, including development, testing, debugging, and deployment.
• Integrate new mechatronics technologies into the software stack.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new vehicle development and product improvements.
• Contribute to software development practices and processes that improve product quality, maintainability, and long-term sustainability.
