Job summary

The Ed Wallach Search Group is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to design and develop algorithms, simulations, and visualization tools for autonomous robotics in Reston, VA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or related field.
  • At least 5 years of industry experience in advanced software development in a team environment.
  • Programming experience in C++ programming language.
  • Experience developing plugins with modern Gazebo simulation software.
  • Experience using one or more development tools.
  • Experience writing algorithmic code, including complexity analysis, performance optimization, and multithreading.
  • US Citizenship required; able to obtain security clearance.

We are seeking an experienced, highly productive Software Engineer to design and develop algorithms, simulations, and visualization tools for autonomous robotics.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about cutting‑edge technologies for prototype systems.

You will engage in the full software process—from concept to design and demonstration—leading dynamic project teams and integrating innovative ideas from various fields.

Experience In Writing Maintainable And Extensible Code Is Essential.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or related field
  • At least 5 years of industry experience in advanced software development in a team environment
  • Programming experience in C++ programming language
  • Experience developing plugins with modern Gazebo simulation software
  • Experience using one or more development tools
  • Experience writing algorithmic code, including complexity analysis, performance optimization, and multithreading
  • US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED; Successful candidates will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, applied math, or related field
  • Experience with Gazebo 11 and/or Gazebo Jetty
  • Significant experience programming in C++ 17 or later C++ version
  • Understanding of modeling vehicle motion (boats/submarines/aerial vehicles).
  • Experience in advanced algorithm integration and/or data analytics applications
  • Experience with additional programming languages
  • Experience in software validation and testing
  • Experience in Probability/Statistics, Linear Algebra, Multivariate Calculus
