Job summary

Avride, a U.S.-based autonomous vehicle startup, is seeking a hands-on Robot Service Technician in San Luis Obispo, CA to support deployment of autonomous delivery robots. You will assemble, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair robotic systems in both workshop and field environments.

You will install sensors (LiDAR, cameras, ultrasonic), read mechanical drawings, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable operation and rapid prototyping of hardware in real-world settings.

Qualifications

• Experience using mechanical and electrical tools, including measuring equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret 2D mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
• Experience installing and integrating custom electronic modules.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Able to lift and move items weighing 50 pounds or more.
• Strong troubleshooting and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assemble wiring harnesses, cables, and connectors for robots.
• Install, configure, and replace sensors including LiDAR, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors.
• Perform mechanical and electrical assembly of robot components and subsystems.
• Follow technical documentation and procedures to ensure quality standards.
• Perform routine maintenance and preventive service on the robot fleet.
• Diagnose failures, investigate incidents, and execute repair and service campaigns.
• Test, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical systems.
• Travel between local sites to provide onsite technical support as needed.
• Support deployment, testing, and validation of autonomous delivery robots.
• Assist with inventory management and parts organization.
• Participate in rapid prototyping and hardware validation efforts.
