Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care Walk-In Clinics in Iowa City is seeking a Physician Associate to deliver direct patient care across Iowa City/Corridor Walk-In Clinics (Urgent Care/Quick Care). This 100% position involves autonomy in medical decisions and educating healthcare students, with potential outreach to Quad Cities locations.

Scheduled evenings/weekends/holidays, with access to X-ray, IV fluids, and suturing capabilities.

Qualifications

• Licensed as PA in the state of Iowa.
• Demonstrated experience in area of clinical practice.
• Ability to effectively manage acutely ill patient population with autonomy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Current valid driver’s license and ability to meet Driving Policy standards.
• BLS, ACLS and PALS certification within first 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical care and management for patients with autonomy in decision-making.
• Obtain medical history and perform physical examinations.
• Assess, diagnose and treat medical problems and record findings.
• Order medications and administer drugs.
• Direct other medical personnel in patient care and educate health care students.
• Participate in committees and maintain professional relationships.
