Job summary

Mariana Minerals is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer (Autonomy) to advance autonomy software for mining vehicles, including perception, SLAM, and motion planning.

You will work on sensor fusion, LiDAR, cameras, radar, GNSS, and integrate sensing, compute, and actuation across a cross-disciplinary team, from architecture to field validation. Bachelor''s degree and 2+ years in autonomy/embedded software required; strong C++, Python and ROS/ROS 2 experience.

Qualifications

• 2+ years developing autonomy, robotics, or embedded software for mobile robots or vehicles.
• Strong proficiency in C++ and/or Python, and ROS/ROS 2.
• Hands-on experience with sensor integration and fusion (LiDAR, cameras, radar, GNSS) and with perception/localization/motion planning.
• Experience with real-time and embedded systems and hardware-software integration.

Responsibilities

• Develop autonomy software for autonomous mining vehicles focusing on perception, SLAM, motion planning, and control
• Integrate and calibrate sensing suite (LiDAR, cameras, radar, IMU, GNSS) with robust sensor fusion
• Build and maintain embedded, real-time software bridging sensing, compute, and actuation with safety and reliability
• Develop simulation, logging, and data pipelines to test autonomy behavior against safety targets
• Build bench, rig, and field validation of the autonomy stack across software-hardware boundary
• Collaborate with hardware and controls engineers to integrate sensing, compute, and actuation into a complete vehicle
