Job summary

Nissan is seeking an Autonomous Systems Research Intern in Santa Clara, CA for a 12-week program. You will contribute to mapping and perception research for autonomous vehicles, developing and evaluating algorithms that help keep maps up to date and improve road environment understanding.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a Master’s or PhD in CS/EE/Robotics with strong C++/Python skills, experience with large datasets, and a collaborative mindset. Onsite work in Santa Clara is required.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD degree program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
• GPA of 3.0 or above; transcripts may be requested.
• Strong programming skills in C++ and/or Python; experience with large datasets and quantitative analysis.
• Self-motivated with the ability to collaborate in a research environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate algorithms that compare observed sensor data with existing map information.
• Identify inconsistencies in road geometry and traffic infrastructure.
• Support automated map maintenance solutions during research.
• Collaborate with autonomous vehicle engineers and researchers on mapping/perception projects.
