Job summary

Meta is seeking a Research Engineer to define and drive the software orchestration and physical infrastructure for an autonomous battery research lab in Redmond, WA. You will lead the build-out of automated workcells and shape APIs and data pipelines bridging hardware with ML workflows.

You will collaborate with materials scientists and ML engineers to accelerate closed-loop discovery and deployment of next-generation battery technologies for new devices, both with commercial and custom

Responsibilities

• Define the overall technical roadmap and detailed system architecture of an autonomous automated lab.
• Identify gaps where commercial automation falls short and lead co-development with vendors.
• Own build-out of partner automation solutions and drive customizations for automation.
• Guide software development to operate system components, orchestrate the full system, and provide data to researchers.
• Translate researchers' needs into hardware and software specs for the autonomous lab system.
