Job summary

Avride Inc. is seeking a reliable Support Specialist to maintain the day-to-day technical operations of an autonomous vehicle fleet in Austin. The role emphasizes real-time issue intake, triage, documentation, and escalation with safety drivers, operators, and engineering teams.

The ideal candidate has a technical support background, comfortable with Unix environments, and strong communication. The position involves light hands-on vehicle tasks, like readiness checks and occasional garage

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in technical support, operations support, or similar
• Strong knowledge of Unix commands (cd, ls, rm, cp, scp, cat, vim, journalctl)
• Hands-on experience using Slack as a primary communication tool
• Experience with ticket systems like Jira or YouTrack
• Clear communicator who collaborates effectively with engineers, drivers, and operators
• Highly responsible, detail-oriented, and safety-focused
• Able to manage multiple requests in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable with repetitive, process-driven tasks

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first contact for technical issues raised by safety drivers and operators during active shifts
• Triage, document, and escalate vehicle- and system-related issues to engineering teams
• Use Unix tools to investigate, review logs, and troubleshoot operational issues
• Communicate clearly with operators, drivers, and engineers to ensure proper handoff
• Support vehicle dispatch and return processes to maintain fleet readiness
• Perform vehicle startup and shutdown procedures
• Oversee charging status and ensure log uploads during daily operations
• Move vehicles around the garage and, if needed, drive on-road in the future
• Help document updates to workflows and support procedures for knowledge sharing
• Maintain safety and compliance in daily tasks
