Job description

We are looking for a Mission Control Specialist for our client who is responsible for ensuring each trip requested by a rider is completed safely and successfully. Similar to air traffic control—but for autonomous vehicles—our Mission Control team works behind the scenes from the service operations command center to keep the fleet running smoothly.

In this role, you’ll have a front-row seat to the operational complexities of realizing autonomous mobility and the chance to directly contribute to the future of transportation. You will analyze service operations both holistically and down to the individual vehicle level to maximize safety and efficiency, manage real-time fleet and crew allocations, and set operational restrictions across our vehicle operational design domains during events like civic gatherings, traffic advisories, or emergency scenes.

Key Responsibilities & Daily Tasks
  • Commercial Service Support: Support live commercial service operations from the command center, ensuring high fleet uptime, safety, and rider satisfaction.
  • Pre-Mission Readiness: Complete daily pre-mission startup checklists to verify that all operational teams, systems, and assets are fully ready for service.
  • Troubleshooting & Escalation: Serve as the first line of defense for basic vehicle troubleshooting, creating and escalating service disruption events using internal ticketing systems.
  • Fleet Response Dispatch: Dispatch Fleet Response ground crews whenever a vehicle requires physical recovery or on-site support, coordinating closely across teams for status updates.
  • Market Configuration & Operational Control: Manage market settings in real time, including establishing restricted geographic zones, setting hours of operation, and routing around temporary hazards (e.g., civic events, sigalerts, or emergency scenes).
  • Cross-Functional Operations: Collaborate cross-functionally across software, hardware, and field operations to keep your market’s local ecosystem operating smoothly.
  • Process Improvement: Assist with operational documentation, post-event reporting, and workflow refinement to continuously elevate safety and performance standards.
Qualifications & Required Skills
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to relay critical information clearly and calmly under pressure.
  • Technical Aptitude: Strong computer literacy with proven comfort navigating complex, multi-screen software environments and custom management platforms.
  • Leadership (Preferred): Prior experience in supervisory, team lead, dispatch, or command center roles is strongly preferred.
