Job summary

Wild West Systems, Inc. is seeking a Firmware Engineer for autonomous weapons and drone systems in Leander, TX. You will develop embedded software on STM32 microcontrollers, handling flight control, perception, and mission planning within a defense-focused environment.

The role emphasizes ownership, fast delivery, and tangible results, with a path to production-quality firmware in Rust and integration across hardware interfaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Software Eng, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of professional Firmware engineering experience.
• Solid Mechatronics background.
• Experience with production-quality firmware in Rust.
• Troubleshooting hardware/software interactions.
• ITAR Eligibility: U.S. Citizen/National or eligible for required export authorizations.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded systems on STM32 microcontrollers.
• Low-level driver development, peripherals, communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN) and RTOS design.
• Comfortable working in the intersection of electronics, sensors, actuators, motor control and embedded software.
