Our practices are located at 10 Members Way in Dover, NH, and 121 Corporate Drive, Portsmouth, NH. This position will support our expert providers treating adult patients, as well as pediatric patients. Our services include diagnosis and treatment options for headaches, migraines, epilepsy, stroke, neuromuscular disease, sleep disorders and more.

Job Summary

We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Autonomic Lab Neurodiagnostic Technologist to join our Neurology team in Portsmouth! The operating hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, so schedules will be staggered accordingly.

The technologist will measure the heart rate and blood pressure of the patient who will be exposed to a variety of stimuli that are controlled by the technologist such as deep breathing, active standing, and passive head-up tilting on a tilt-table. In addition, the technologist will perform a sympathetic skin response test that will evaluate and record the galvanic response from the skin. The technician will be responsible for preparing the patient for all autonomic testing in the lab as well as providing explanations of what to expect. When the exams are complete, the technologist organizes the data into a report.

Responsibilities:

  1. Correctly places EKG leads and electrodes to acquire a diagnostically accurate EKG.
  2. Prepares a patient for testing.
  3. Explains each autonomic test component to the patient and assures they understand what to expect, how to communicate during the test and why the test has been ordered.
  4. Sets up the patient room with all necessary equipment before the patient’s test time.
  5. Performs each autonomic test and records observations in real time.
  6. Helps to maintain proper scheduling in conjunction with the scheduling department.
  7. Provides patients with pre-appointment paperwork and answers any patient questions prior to appointment date.
  8. Maintains proper supply levels and orders additional testing supplies as needed.
  9. Enters test result data.
  10. With the help of the front desk and scheduling department, ensures each patient has insurance coverage in place prior to visit.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or Director of the department.

Qualifications:

  • ABRET preferred. Must obtain with 1 year of hire.
  • Prior experience preferred.
  • Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Can perform accurate EKG tracings.
  • Excellent patient interactive skills.
  • Can recognize life threatening arrhythmias.
  • Can recognize EKG artifact.
  • Can enter data quickly and accurately.
  • Can measure blood pressures.
